Kaitlin Wurtz

Kaitlin Wurtz’s research interests have centered on improving the welfare of poultry and swine housed in alternative housing systems through use of behavioral and genomic tools. She has collaborated with engineers to develop and apply automated tools for behavioral detection and welfare monitoring. She has also served as an inspector for the Certified Humane label, giving her practical experience in welfare auditing. Kaitlin obtained her PhD from Michigan State University and currently holds a post-doctoral position at Aarhus University in Denmark.

There are also regular regional conferences held to encourage local knowledge exchange.
