Annika Krause

I am a behavioural biologist and I am currently working at the Research Institute for Farm Animal Biology in Dummerstorf (FBN). After completing my diploma thesis on stereotypic behaviour of elephants in the Zoo, I switched to pigs and focused on affective-emotional reactions in the context of coping and animal welfare. With my studies, I try to understand how emotions are mediated by physiological and behavioural processes and how personality may shape emotional experiences in animals. Further, I’m interested in the transmission of emotions, (pro-) social behaviour and self-control. At the moment, I mainly work with pigs, but I’m involved in other projects on cattle, goats, calves and also dogs.
