Upcoming Regional Meetings

We are delighted to announce that registration for the ISAE UK & Ireland Regional conference which will be held in Teagasc Moorepark, Fermoy, Co. Cork, Ireland is now OPEN!

You can register on eventbrite. Cost of attendance is £45 for full paying members and £30 for student members. This includes tea/coffee and a lunch on the day.

Abstract submission & conference programme

There is no theme for this conference so we would very much welcome anything which fits the remit of the ISAE. We are delighted to be joined by Professor Bob Elwood (QUB), who will present on his body of work about pain in crustaceans, and Dr Simone Ciuti (UCD), who will talk about his work with deer, including human–wildlife interaction and disease transmission implications.

Abstracts should be approximately 300 words in length, and references, figures and tables should not be included. They should contain a clear statement of the purpose of the work, the methods used, results (for empirical studies) and conclusions. All abstracts submitted must comply with the “Guidelines for Ethical Treatment of Animals in Applied Animal Behaviour and Welfare Research” prepared by the ISAE Ethics Committee. A statement confirming this should be included. You can find an example of the detail needed in abstracts here. If your study did not need ethical approval, as per your institutional guidelines (e.g. desk based work), the following statement can be included: Ethical statement: No Ethical approval was needed for the study

Please submit your abstracts via email to this using the title ‘ISAE abstract’. Please ensure you save the file name as your surname and submit it as a .doc or .docx file. We welcome both oral and poster presentations - please specify your preference (Full presentation: 15 minutes plus questions; speed presentation: 5 minutes plus questions; poster).

We will be planning a social event and dinner the evening before the conference (1 April) at a location in Cork. If you would like to attend please let us know via email so we have approximate numbers, and also please do let us know any catering requirements.
