Professional Practice Assistant Professor of Swine Production

The department of Animal Sciences is seeking for a Ph.D for 75% teaching and 25% extension position to support a scholar in a 12-month professional practice position focused on swine production. This is a non-tenure track, multi-year appointment eligible for renewal. The ideal candidate will establish an innovative teaching program to deliver animal sciences subject content at the introductory, intermediate, and/or upper level. Specific course assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department, but the successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the swine industry and will teach an advanced course on swine production. Additional teaching responsibilities will depend on departmental needs. The successful candidate will also be expected to adapt teaching methods to the needs of diverse learners and use existing and new technologies to deliver subject matter through both in-person and virtual formats. The range of duties will include contact hours with students in class, recitation, and/or laboratories, and additional commitment to course preparation, student office hours, team meetings, grading, etc. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved with Extension programming by developing outreach events targeted to the swine industry as well as youth. Specifically, this could include working in collaboration with the existing educational, research, and Extension teams at the Ohio State University and/or through strategic partnerships with stakeholders and allied industry groups in the state of Ohio and nationally.
